Christmas in the USA

Posted by on 7 December 2010 | 0 Comments

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas everywhere you go...

This past weekend we went to an organic Christmas tree farm, picked our tree and cut it down ourselves! This is the first time I have had a live Christmas tree and to be able to say that I cut it down with my own bare hands and carried it to the roof of our car is so exciting!! We drove home with the tree tied to our roof, just like a movie. I must say, we have been lucky not have any real Griswold incidents yet though.

We went to visit Santa last night at the mall and got our photo taken too. Its was a big family shot this year (me included!) and the girls have asked Santa for a surpise trip for Christmas. My fingers are crossed for a trip to Florida...watch this space.

All presents are wrapped and tonight we get to open our Christmas stockings because my host family celebrate Kris Kringle day (a German tradition). We will be decorating the tree and making cookies too. Have I told you how much I love this time of year! I have a feeling it might start snowing tonight too, at least that's what my phone is telling me. With temperatures hovering around the freezing mark it's not too much of a stretch.

Well if I dont get a chance to say it before the end of the month, Merry Christmas to you all!! I hope you enjoy the holiday season with friends and family and I hope I get to enjoy it with SNOW!!

Time to make some hot chocolate and crack open a book.
